Don and Susie Morris, Founders

Born into a family of inventors and tinkerers, Don Morris inherited his passion for achieving efficiency and quality through creativity. Whether it was repairing his Volkswagen bus or baking madeleines, Don was motivated to analyze every path and fuel his curiosity with his tireless commitment for continuous improvement. Before Susie Morris's recipe for the perfect Madeleine, there was worldwide travel, hand-painted skirts, and classical soprano solos, all performed with her hallmark ingredient—passion.

They found in each other the same motivating force and the perfect balance to her wild creativity and his rational nature. Together, they formed the ultimate business team: creative, analytical, and fueled by enthusiasm.

In 1973, Don and Susie launched Casuedon, one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, Renaissance-inspired clothing for high-end retailers. The dress business flourished until fashion changed, and for the artisans it seemed time to do something else.

When Susie began baking madeleines for the Pig by the Tail charcuterie in Berkeley, Don immediately recognized tremendous potential. Thus began Donsuemor in 1976, a business venture committed to making the best madeleines possible. Both Don and Susie engaged in every aspect of the business, fueled by the excitement that surrounded the venture. Time has verified the wisdom of their business philosophy of slow, steady growth.

Despite Don's passing in 1997, Donsuemor remains committed to his vision for continuous improvement. Susie Morris remains the President and Founder of Donsuemor.
