Donsuemor madeleines are a versatile treat. Reward yourself with a small indulgence whether at home or on-the-go.
Our madeleines are the perfect accompaniment to coffee, tea, hot cocoa, milk, or wine.
In France, madeleines are traditionally enjoyed warm, straight from the ovens of patisseries. Induce a moment of happiness by warming our madeleines in a 350°F oven for 3-4 minutes or 10 seconds in a microwave.
For an elegant dessert, simply place some madeleines in a bowl with fresh fruit and a dollop of whipped cream. Or garnish a dish of ice cream or sorbet with some madeleines.
Use our madeleines to make delicious desserts. Here are our favorite recipes:
Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches (Serves four)
16 Traditional Madeleines
2 pints of your favorite ice cream, gelato, or sorbet
Extras: Chopped nuts, chocolate chips, sprinkles, chopped candied ginger or chopped candied citrus rind
Optional: Whipped cream, dessert sauce
In advance (three to four hours or overnight):
- Prepare a cookie sheet or plastic container that will hold 8 madeleine sandwiches.
- Remove ice creams from freezer to soften slightly, approximately 15 minutes.
- Place extras each in a medium sized bowl.
- Scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of ice cream to the "bellies" of 8 madeleines; place remaining madeleine "bellies" gently into the ice cream to form sandwiches. The scalloped ridges will be facing outward.
- Press extras gently into ice cream.
- Place in freezer until firm.
- Serve with whipped cream and dessert sauces.
Individual Lemon Blueberry Trifles (Serves four)
Four Wine or Martini Glasses
16 Traditional or Lemon Zest Madeleines
2 pints fresh blueberries (reserve four tablespoons)
1 jar Lemon Curd
Limoncello or orange juice
Whipping cream
Sugar
Up to three hours before serving:
- In a large bowl, blend ¼ cup Lemon curd with 2 to 3 tablespoons Limoncello or orange juice. Mix in fresh blueberries (except for reserved berries). Set aside.
- In a clean mixing bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form, mix in sugar to taste, beat to desired consistency.
- In each wine glass, layer 2 Traditional or Lemon Zest madeleines, spoon in blueberry mixture, layer with whipped cream, repeat then top with whipped cream.
- Dollop ½ to 1 teaspoon of lemon curd on to whipped cream; sprinkle each with one tablespoon reserved berries.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
